Top 10 guide to sustainability reporting

Introduction

sustainabilityWelcome to Nkonki’s Top 10 Guide to Sustainability Reporting™. This Top 10 Guide is meant to provide guidance for all executives and officials tasked with the preparation of Sustainability Reports in a manner that meets the minimum requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

It focuses on the Top 10 things you have to know before you can make an informed decision about how to embrace the world’s expectation on Sustainability Reporting. This Top 10 Guide to Sustainability Reporting™ outlines the key concepts, and simplifies some of the key issues associated with Sustainability Reporting. The core content of any sustainability report is covered in this Top 10 Guide, and it is applicable to all companies irrespective of size, sector or location.

King 3 calls for integrated reporting and disclosure (reporting of financial information with sustainability issues of social, economic and environmental impacts) and recommends that the audit committees engage an external assurance provider to provide assurance over material aspects of the sustainability reporting in the integrated report. The skills set of the audit committees will have to include member/s proficient in sustainability. Furthermore, integrated reporting and disclosure may require registered auditors and assurance providers who can provide assurance on both the financial components and the sustainability aspects of reporting. This is likely to impact the external audit engagement, opinion and associated costs, as well as< director liability in the event of misrepresentation.

Nkonki has developed the skills in house to assist companies to prepare Sustainability Reports as
a component of the expected Integrated Report, and can provide External Assurance required so that a company can attain a plus status on its Declared Application Level. Nkonki’s resident expert on Sustainability Professor Steven Firer, did his Phd on Sustainability and is a visiting Professor in the Department of Accounting in Rhodes University. His academic knowledge, experience and expertise on Sustainability, provides clients with a Unique and efficient approach, when it comes to Sustainability Reporting™.
