Corporate Social Responsibility

To the firm, giving back to the community and particularly the less fortunate is entrenched in our values. Nkonki's Corporate Social Responsibility is divided into the following areas:

Higher Education Learning Bursary Fund

This a bursary programme whereby bursaries are awarded to individuals from previously disadvantaged communities. In addition to the bursary programme, these students share in the knowledge and skills of the external audit department during their university holidays.

Nkonki Day of Giving

This is more of an employee driven project (Silindile Khubheka's initiative as a trainee) that aims at addressing social problems and alleviating hunger in needy communities. It was launched on the 25 November 2005 at an orphanage called Othandweni in Soweto.

Nkonki’s Corporate Social ResponsibilityThis day has become an annual event when Nkonki employees visit orphanages or any organisation that is in need of help and support. The firm encourages staff to contribute time, finance and other resources as means of ploughing back to the community, and Nkonki matches each Rand that employees donate in this project.

Since the inception of this programme to date the following organizations have benefited enormously from Nkonki day of Giving: Othandweni Orphanage in Soweto, Soshanguve Orphanage in Pretoria, Vosloorus Old Age Home in Vosloorus, Abangani Enkosini Home in Alexandra, Mpimbo Junior School in Eastern Cape and The Girls Home in Hillbrow .
