Nkonki has achieved a 60% pass rate on the PPE results released on the 26th of February 2010.

The PPE is the final test of professional competence for qualification as a Registered Auditor (RA) and Chartered Accountant (CA) and is administered by the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors (IRBA).  It assesses the competency of candidates at entry point to the auditing profession after 18 months of on the job training. The exam was written in November 2009 by nearly 2800 candidates, with the results being released on 26 February2010.

Sindi Zilwa, CEO of Nkonki says, “the firm is exceptionally proud of its trainees reaching this point of qualifying as Chartered Accountants. South Africa is struggling with a severe skills shortage, and the landscape shows a greater need for blacks to increase their numbers in the shortest possible time.  We are pleased with the 849 black students (African, Coloured, Indian) who have qualified and who in total achieved a 78% pass rate, which is the highest percentage in the history of the PPE examination.  To those who were unsuccessful, Nkonki encourages them to continue pursuing their goals and not to lose sight of their ambitions to qualify as Chartered Accountants.”

Nkonki, together with the auditing and accountancy profession is committed to playing a meaningful role in addressing the shortage of Black Chartered Accountants in this country and improve the demographics of the profession’s landscape.”
