2010 Top Women Awards
Nkonki is the winner and proud to receive the award as the 2010 Top Gender Empowered Company of the Year in the Financial Services Category by Top Women Awards(TWA) at the Sandton Convention Centre Ballroom on Thursday, 9 September.

Beating such established brands is a real honour, but given that Nkonki has a 51% women ownership and a level 2 BBBEE rating, the award is a real thumbs upĀ and a motivation to continue believing in how much women can contribute to the success of our country.
Nkonki was one of the winners in 21 categories with a total of 95 finalists.
“I am deeply humbled and honoured and at the same time excited for the recognition that Nkonki’s efforts to address empowerment issues has been given due recognition. While Nkonki believes very strongly in “growing our timber”, it has not been an easy road to travel due to the competitive nature of our business environment. The challenge of making ground in order to compete successfully with the large firms would prove to be an insurmountable challenge that would be further compromised by empowering our own staff instead of adopting a ‘leapfrog’ strategy that would bring quick gains in appointing experienced staff. I would like to thank my management team and the Nkonki Inc family in fully supporting the empowerment of our staff,”Sindi Zilwa, Nkonki CEO
Nkonki Inc believes that the award is not the end but only the beginning given the status of the country’s transformation landscape. The statistics have shown that very few women, particularly from the previously disadvantaged background are qualifying as professional/chartered accountants. Nkonki acknowledges that it will take all companies in the sector to reach a stage where the playing field will be level in terms of both gender and race.
The award will further enhance the Nkonki Inc brand in that it will help Nkonki Inc attract young women with potential, be it trainees or experienced staff into its fold. Nkonki would also like to congratulate all 95 finalists in the hope that the spirit of gender empowerment will continue to flourish in South Africa in the years to come.
