Retirement Fund Industry Round Table Discussion

On Tuesday, 14 June 2011, Nkonki facilitated a Roundtable discussion for the retirement industry and the Registrar of Pension Funds, Mr Jurgen Boyd. The topic was Regulatory Reforms in the Retirement Funds Industry. Mr Boyd opened up the session by telling the industry, "The major policy shift in the regulatory architecture is the move towards a twinpeaks model, where different agencies are given the lead responsibility for key policy objectives. The financial sector will be made safer through a tougher prudential and market conduct framework which is similar to the trend of other global regulators after the financial crisis". He assured the industry that comprehensive consultations with all stakeholders will take place before any implementation.
