Nkonki's leadership philosophy

LEADERSHIP

When we established Nkonki we posed the question to ourselves "what does it take to be a leader?"
Leadership comes in many forms, it may be the bravery of steadfastness in the face of great oppression, it may be leadership in the fields of science or art where passion and leadership combine to create greatness or it may be greatness in the arena of philosophy where thought becomes an instrument of change.

But perhaps our ideal of leadership is summed up by a quote attributed to Albert Schweitzer (1875 - 1965) French theologian, musician, medical missionary, who said;

"Example is leadership."

We took a long hard look at the industry that we were involved in and decided to characterize how we would like to be perceived, how we could set an example both for our own staff, for our customers and for our peers. We needed to find out what we are and are not, in order to define our character.

  • We are not simply another black empowerment firm which uses this characterisation to gain unfair advantage.
  • We are not simply another emerging professional accounting firm.
  • We will command respect through the retention and training of professional staff at all levels.
  • We will not be defined by the borders of South Africa but will actively seek out international opportunities.
  • Our levels of client service are unique in the industry.

With these guiding principles in place we aim to set an example for the industry in the way we do business.

Our principles are applied to the way we do business each day, the way we interact with our customers and the way we treat our staff. We pride ourselves on the fact that Nkonki has the most forward thinking training plans in the industry, we also pride ourselves in the fact that we are not paying lip service to the idea of corporate social responsibility and that we are changing people's lives in tangible ways.

We find that our guiding principles influence the way that our clients see us and work with us and that each business relationship that we have is ber for these principles.

At Nkonki we believe that leadership is more than just a business principle, the quest for a leadership position is about more than numbers, it is about building a foundation of efficiency, good relationships and communication.

We pride ourselves on our approach and share our ideals with our clients. We believe that by setting an example we provide inspiration to all we do business with.
